Rachel & Dan’s Tangled Themed Wedding at Disney World | Orlando FL
“Katie and Jay were absolutely amazing!!! I can’t say enough about the quality of service they offer and how wonderful they are as people. We got married in Disney World and photography was incredibly important to us. There was certain feel I wanted in our photos that was missing from Disney’s photography. I stumbled across Katie’s work by accident and IMMEDIATELY fell in love with her style. I hadn’t done ANY research and wasn’t sure what I was looking for but as soon as I started exploring Katie’s page I knew I had to book her. I emailed her that day and she responded within a few hours just as excited to be a part of our wedding as we were to hire her! Katie and I exchanged several emails over the months leading to our wedding, some business related and some just for fun. She was always quick to respond and answer any questions we had. It’s clear she cares about each of her customers and takes the time to make sure the service her and Jay provide is personalized to that couple. It was so much fun working with them and felt like we were best friends by the time we finally met. True to their site, Katie and Jay took the time to help us pose and look good during family photos and portraits then faded into the background to capture all the natural joy and magic of our day. I had so many friends and family comment on how professional and unobtrusive they were and even more compliments on their actual work once Katie shared a few sneak peek shots. Looking through our photos I am blown away by the quality. Every picture tells a story and glows with romance and whimsy. Katie worked with us to customize a payment plan allowing us to have our dream photographer and not break the bank. It’s a small thing and required a little trust on her part, but we’re so grateful for her understanding and willingness to accommodate us. It was a pleasure and joy to work with Katie and Jay. I’m already trying to figure out plans for a 1 year anniversary shoot!” – Rachel
AHHHHHH I am so pumped to finally share this Tangled themed wedding at Disney World! The first time I met Rachel & Dan was the morning of their wedding but it felt like we’d met a hundred times before then! Rachel and I emailed each other a lot and they were always LONG emails (-: We most definitely gained two life long friends in them.
Dan is an instructor at a Taijitsu martial arts school (so really hes a pro ninja) and Rachel is a software engineer and developer for an independent research facility. She says she “does a little math, a little physics, and a lot of programming”. I LOVE how these two first met – Rachel was returning from the Maryland Renaissance Festival in full bar wench attire and Dan says that he thought it was incredibly attractive and intriguing and what initially made him want to get to know her! We definitely bonded over our love for Disney (obviously) and when Rachel told me their wedding was Tangled inspired and included FLOATING LANTERNS in the reception space I knew we were meant to be!
Rachel & Dan we are SO happy for y’all and so very honored that you chose us as your wedding photographers! We definitely need to attend Dapper Day together in the near future!
Planning: Disney Fairytale Weddings
Ceremony: Disney’s wedding pavilion
Reception: Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
Getting ready at Coronado Springs
Everyone got ready super early in the morning at Disney’s Coronado Springs hotel. I’d never seen it before so it was new for me (-:
All of Rachel’s bridesmaids represented different Disney leading ladies – Rapunzel, Mulan, Ariel, and Elsa. Rachel’s wedding gown and theme was Belle! Her gown is from the Alfred Angelo Disney line and was one of the Belle dresses and she carried a white and red rose bouquet.
Each bridesmaids bouquet had a charm attached with a famous quote from their representing Disney movie – Rapunzel’s was “Live Your Dream”, Elsa’s was “Let It Go”, Mulan’s was “A Girl Worth Fighting For” and Ariel’s was “Part of Your World”.
All of the groomsmen had matching bowties to the bridesmaids but they also got to wear Marvel super hero cufflinks.
First Look & Portraits at the Grand Floridian
Rachel and Dan did their first look at the Grand Floridian Resort around 9am. We took some photos around the outside and then went into the lobby to finish up!
Ceremony at Disney’s Wedding Pavilion
The ceremony took place at Disney’s Wedding Pavilion where the couple exited to white rose petals thrown by their guests.
Tangled Wedding Reception at the Grand Floridian
The reception was back at the Grand Floridian and when I first walked in I did a sort of double take – it was amazing! The floating lanterns, the tower backdrop with the amazing Tangled wedding cake, and of course the Flynn and Rapunzel decorated tables!
The bride and groom got to sneak away from the cocktail hour for a private look at their reception before the guests entered and they were totally blown away! They also practiced their first dance in the empty room. The guests were just as in awe as the couple was. But the biggest surprise was yet to come – halfway through the reception Rapunzel and Flynn Rider themselves came for a visit! After the cake was cut, they cleared away the table and we used the tower backdrop to take photos of the guests with the Princess and Thief (-:
