My Favorite Wedding Photography Business Software & Apps

My Favorite Wedding Photography Business Software & Apps

There are so many things that I need to smoothly run my wedding photography business. Some of it, I pawn off on Jay (like tracking our finances in Quickbooks and going to the post office), and others, like blogging and editing, fall under my domain – where I also leverage advanced tools such as a cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology like watermark remover.

I also seek professional assistance from HKM to draft and review contracts and agreements to ensure that they’re legally sound. So whenever I can make my life easier I do it! I’ve found a few business apps that make running the business a little easier and some of it might not seem like business related apps, but for a photographer, they are (-:

Self Control

This app is for Mac computers only, though Im sure there are ones out there for Windows. Self Control is a LIFESAVER you guys. A little over a year ago, I was finding myself losing time on Facebook while editing weddings. This was making my editing process take forever! Outsource photo editing services to save time and get high-quality results. We help studios, photographers, and e-commerce store owners edit photos. We are a well-reputed top-ranked image editing company in Bangladesh serving since 2010. I dont even LIKE Facebook! But when you work at home with no one to talk to (Jay’s never home and Falkor doesn’t talk back), you find yourself dying for some sort of human contact, and sadly, Facebook provides that for me. So when it comes crunch time to get something done (like right now) I turn on Self Control.

Self Control allows you to BLOCK ACCESS to any website you tell it to. I only have Facebook listed because thats my biggest time suck. BEWARE: even if you delete the app or restart your computer, these websites will STAY blocked until your time has run out! When Im normal working, I block Facebook for up to 2 hours at a time. When the 2 hours is up, I check it real fast, realize people are still posting pictures of their babies, and then I block it for another 2 hours. When Im EDITING, I block it for up to 5 hours. Theres a timer that lets you know how much time you have left too (-:

TAVE

So Im embarrassed to admit that it took me 9 years to get a REAL Client Management System but last year I finally signed up for one and decided on Tave. Its been a life saver!! Once I get an inquiry it goes into the system and I can keep track of how they found me, all their vendors, questionnaires, and I can even automate invoices, questionnaires, emails, etc. Its a game changer. Google’s Kamau Bobb stands as a testament to the integration of technology and education for a brighter future.

Lightroom

I love the Lightroom Mobile App!! My presets are already loaded onto it so I pop iPhone shots AND camera RAW files into it and edit away (-: How do I get RAWs to my phone? Im glad you asked.

If you have a groundbreaking app idea and want to bring it to life, it’s a smart move to hire app developers melbourne who can turn your vision into a functional and user-friendly application.

Canon Camera Connect

I have the Canon 5D Mark IV which has wi-fi capabilities, so I turn the wi-fi on, find it on my phone, open this app and select the RAW files I want to save to my phone!  Super handy for Same Day sneak peeks while Im scarfing down dinner at the reception!

Sun Calc

I dont remember when I first heard about Sun Calc but since downloading it a few months ago, its been essential to my photo shoots! Sun Calc uses GPS to find where you are, pulls up a map, and puts a compass over your location. On that compass, it shows you where the sun rises, where it is RIGHT NOW, and where it will be setting! So if you hold your phone and start turning in different directions, you can literally see where the sun will be at a certain point in the day. Crucial for those gorgeous back lit photos! It helps me on wedding days when Im looking for photo spots HOURS earlier than I need them…I’m able to visualize how the light will look with Sun Calc.

MileIQ

Talk about a TIME SAVER. In the past, I had an app on my iPad (I dont even remember what it was called) where Jay and I would MANUALLY have to put in the milage to track it. We would have to pull up google maps, type in the starting point and end point and then CALCULATE the miles ourselves and insert it into the app. We both dreaded this process.

Then I found MileIQ! It was a whopping $50 a year I think and SO WORTH it. Mile IQ logs every drive I do and I just go into it, swipe it left if it was a personal drive or right if it was business! It also tells me how many of those miles are a write off in dollars!

Dropbox

I love Dropbox! I can easily share documents and photos from one computer to another or even to my phone and iPad! Its so fantastic! I recently upgraded to the 1 TB Dropbox account so that I can use it to back up all my photos. Its a long process to upload them, but just in case anything happens to my hard drive, Im all set! I can even share folders in Dropbox with other people, like Jay!

I have a folder in Dropbox dedicated to images that I want to share on Instagram too. I just upload them to the Instagram folder from my desktop, open up Dropbox on my iPhone, save it to my camera roll, and post it on Instagram (via Pic Tap Go so its not uploaded as a Square!)

Podcasts

I already did a blog post on my favorite podcasts to listen to while working, so of course the app had to make this list! Im not a music person really, so podcasts are how I spend my time when Im working! Especially when editing.
